What affects the final price?

The price quoted on the phone is binding once we agree on the service. Here's what we ask about to give an accurate quote:

  • Lock type. Standard Yale-type cylinder is the cheapest. Mortice deadlocks, BS3621-rated, anti-snap cylinders, or multipoint mechanisms cost more due to the parts.
  • Door type. uPVC, composite, and timber doors all have different mechanisms. uPVC multipoint repairs are usually £69-£159, single Yale cylinders £88-£149.
  • What's failed. A locked-out service ("get me in") is cheaper than a full lock replacement. Snapped key extraction is usually £39-£99.
  • Number of locks. Multiple locks in one visit get a slight discount over individual jobs. Common for post-burglary or move-in lock changes.
  • Insurance compliance. If you need BS3621 deadlocks for insurance, that's a specific lock type with a known cost. We supply documentation for your insurer.

What we never charge for

  • Callout fee. No charge for the engineer arriving — only for the work done.
  • Out-of-hours surcharge. Same price 24/7, including bank holidays.
  • Weekend premium. Saturdays and Sundays priced the same as weekdays.
  • Quote on the phone. Free, no commitment to book.
  • Hidden parts costs. Quote includes the lock or mechanism part — no separate "parts fee".
One exception: if our engineer arrives on site and you cancel the job after assessment (you change your mind, found another solution, etc.), the £49 assessment fee applies. This is to compensate the engineer for the trip. It's never charged if we cancel or can't help.

How to pay

Payment is taken when the work is complete and you're satisfied:

  • Card (debit, credit, contactless) — preferred
  • Bank transfer (immediate, with receipt)
  • Cash (rarely used but accepted)
  • Apple Pay / Google Pay via card terminal

We don't take payment in advance. We don't do cash-in-hand discounts. The price we quote is the price on the receipt.
